(Amherst, NS) - Trider's Craft Beer will commence brewing in Amherst this year. They will be setting up in the Amherst Industrial Park in leased space in the incubator mall the middle of next month. The brew space will also have a small storefront for purchases and it may end up licensed as a tap room as well depending on how things go.
Brewmaster Joe Potter says they have a 7 BBL system on order that should arrive by late October and hope to be sending out batches from it right around the new year. Look for two or three easy drinking and straight ahead ales including what they call Scotian Pale Ale (a very lightly hopped APA) with a revolving cast of locally themed seasonals as well as a light lager for next summer.
Trider's plan to start selling beer from a 10 gallon pilot system before the end of summer while they are waiting for their new production system. Look for them to be active in the farmers markets from Amherst to Halifax at that point. Long term plans is to set up a tap room and store front in downtown Amherst serving light fare or to partner up with a local food establishment to offer some eats. This location will also house a small batch system to brew periodic specialty releases.
Joining Joe on this venture is his wife who will be the operations and retail manager and his brother-in-law who will handle marketing. Watch for details here as the continue along with development.
