MBR May 5, 2017 - New Brunswick/Prince Edward Island Edition

Happy Cinco de Mayo, here is the beer news of the week.

Big Axe Brewery have a couple of new beers out at the brewery. Solstice witbeir is brewed with wild foraged partridgeberry from Newfoundland. This really tart beer is 4.2% ABV.
Florganic Pale Ale is Big Axe's very first 100% organic pale ale, brewed with organic malt from Horton Ridge Malt and Grain Co., and tons of organic flowers like lavender, Queen Anne's lace and organic hops from Southan Farms. This one weighs in at 4.4% ABV.

Celtic Knot Brewing now has a license enabling them to sell growlers. They also have two new beers out soon. Summer Daze pale ale is a beer to hopefully convert macro beer drinkers and a rye IPA called Ryetious that is hopped with nugget, Simcoe and dry hopped with Amarillo. Both beers will hit the accounts shortly.

Graystone Brewing released Sugarbush Maple Brown, a limited run brown ale infused with maple. Subtle sweetness. The 5% ABV and 26 IBU is available for pints, crowlers and growlers.

Hammond River Brewing has a couple of new beers coming out this week. The first one is a kettle soured Berliner Weisse, brewed with all natural Peaches and aptly name Naval Daze. Like the other kettle soured Berliners from HRB, this one will be 3.2% ABV and 4 IBU. The second one is a continuance of the Vegas SMaSH IPA series, but this time being brewed with all Australian Galaxy hops. Galaxy hops provide wonderful aromas of Citrus and Passionfruit. This will be 6.5% ABV and hopped to 60 IBU. Look for both of these new beers in a couple of weeks at HRB's local tap accounts.

Loyalist City Brewing has partnered up with New England Distilling to put together a special barrel aged cross border collaboration for the first beer in their barrel series. They traveled down to Portland Maine to visit New England Distilling and pick up an American Oak barrel that had been infused with Ingenium gin, New England Distilling’s award winning gin known for its strong citrus and botanical notes. The barrel was filled with a special batch of Loyalist's double IPA brewed to 9% ABV and 100 IBU and a few bottles of Ingenium Gin to provide the finished beer with pleasant citrus, herbal and juniper notes. They will be doing a special bottle release of this one-of-a-kind Gin barrel aged double IPA in the future once the beer has spent enough time in the barrel to develop a pleasant barrel aged character.

Savoie's Brewhouse has been approved to sell from their brewery and will soon be announcing hours of operation so you can come and pick up some local favorites.

Trail Way Brewing have released Beyond Reality. It is a juiced up version of their Raspberry Wheat. They increased the quantity of raspberries and changed their technique of dosing the beer with the raspberries. They then dry-hopped with a healthy dose of El Dorado hops. They say the result is "a unique crazy juicy berry/ raspberry character while remaining dry and crisp".

Alcool NB Liquor opened The Craft Beer Room at the Station on York Street in Fredericton. The location has over 200 beers to choose from, new products arriving every week, growler bar and hard to find beers.

Have a great week and enjoy responsibly.
