Maritime Beer Report - November 6, 2015

Hello craft beer fans, I have a lot of great news for the report this November 6th 2015.

PEI Brewing released that over 6 months in the making, their next barrel-aged project is ready. Now available in the taproom only - Hell Street, a sweet, smooth barrel-aged doppelbock. Extremely limited run so don't to get this.

Bad Apple Brewhouse has some news this week. They currently have a fresh batch of Cucumber Mint flowing through the taps as a fun seasonal beer. They also brewed some Russian Imperial Stout, one of my favorites, that will be released near Christmas. The big news from BAB is that they are currently releasing the latest batch of Mosaic DIPA, a 8% ABV beer. As most people know it is brewed to raise money and awareness of Down syndrome. Brewmaster Jeff Saunders son has Mosaic Down syndrome and they donate all the proceeds from this beer to send kids to camp and fund other community projects. This beer will have a limited bottle run over the 2 batches that will be produced this fall. It will hit some special taps in New Brunswick, and is graciously being supported by the following locations - The Stubborn Goat, Lion and Bright and LaTorta Pizzeria.

Garrison Brewing staff was off picking spruce boughs at Meander River Farms yesterday, that means Spruce Beer is just around the corner.

Good Robot Brewing says their newest test batch, Damn Fine Coffee and Cherry Pie Pale, is now on tap at the brewery. It has subtle notes of coffee from Java Blend Coffee Roasters, tart cherries from Terra Beata Cranberries.

North Brewing Company says Strong Dark is back at the Agricola St. Store and the Winter Saison with ginger and black pepper will make its come back soon.

Rudder's in Yarmouth released a new beer recently. Like the other IPAs Mike Ferguson made it incorporates local history. Runic Stone IPA is a delicious 5.6% ABV and 46 IBU beer now on tap.

Spindrift Brewing Company retail shop opened on Wednesday to buy cans and growlers. Brewmaster Kellye Robertson says to look for their next beer in the new year.

Tatamagouche Brewing picked up some fresh rum barrels from Ironworks Distillery for a new batch of its award winning Rum Barrel Aged Dreadnot.
They were also busy brewing a yet unnamed American wheat collaboration with Field Guide restaurant from Halifax. It has lots of NS grown cascade hops from Wysmykal farm in Northport. They mash hopped, late additions of huell melon and Mandarina Bavaria, and then used more cascade in the hop back and almost nothing during boil. They want a wheat beer with lots of aroma and flavor and very drinkable.

Big Tide Brewing now has Bockman-Turner Overweiz on tap. This is a special small batch Weizenbock that comes in at 7.6% ABV.

Les Brasseurs du Petit-Sault announces the return of the Buckdjeuve, Silver Medal winner at the Atlantic Canadian Beer Awards, on tap at the brewtique.

Distillerie Fils du Roy revealed its latest beer called The North Shore (New Brunswick) Regiment. This English Barleywine packs a 12% ABV with the following for the brewer "A showcase of malty richness and complex, intense flavors. Chewy and rich in body, with warming alcohol and a pleasant fruity or hoppy interest. When aged, it can take on port-like flavors. A wintertime sipper."

Half Cut Brewing says its Belligerent Brown is now on tap at The Brewtique in Fredericton. They say it is "malty, hoppy and slightly roasty with notes of dark chocolate and dried dark fruit". It is limited quantity so get it while the gettin' is good. It weighs in at 5.4% ABV and 74 IBUs. It is also available at 540 Kitchen and Bar, Snooty Fox, King Street Alehouse and James Joyce pub

Trail Way Brewing revealed more details on the location of their new brewery. It will be at 280 Main Street (old Canadian Tire Building) on Fredericton's Northside. They promise to share more information as they work through the process and hoping to open in the Spring of 2016.
