Historic Alexander Keith's Brewery to brew again

(Halifax, NS) - Alexander Keith’s Brewery in downtown Halifax that first opened in 1820 and is Nova Scotia’s best known brewery announced today it is investing $1.5 million in the historic site and will brew beer on site starting in April. The focus of the brewery will be on creating small-batch brews that will be available for sale in growlers at the brewery or 650 ml bottles and six-packs of bottles at the NSLC. The beer will also be sold in kegs to select bars and restaurants in Nova Scotia.

"The brewery will focus on experimenting with new ideas and flavours that carry on the tradition started by Mr. Keith himself almost 200 years ago in this very spot,” said Alexander Keith’s brewmaster, Steve Durand. “We are excited to bring new, small-batch Alexander Keith’s brews to beer fans that have long supported us here in Nova Scotia.”

The brewery will continue to be open to the public, offering tours where people can witness the beer being brewed and try a sample.
